MIPLM dinner speech: IP preparation as a success factor for partnerships

Bernd Bösherz gave a dinner speech at the CEIPI–EPO Master Programme in IP Law and Management on “Before the Dance Begins: Why IP Preparation Determines the Success of Partnerships”.

The speech centred on the observation that successful collaborations do not begin at the negotiating table, but long before it, with internal preparation. Bernd Bösherz set out the central checkpoints before any partnership: taking stock of one’s own IP portfolio, clarifying questions of ownership, freedom-to-operate analyses, and internal alignment between management, R&D, the legal department and further stakeholders.
